The NAEP, or Nation’s Report Card, is a national assessment administered to a sample of students in every state every other year. Our 2024 NAEP dashboard focuses on performance of DC public school students compared with national and participating urban district averages.

Every DC traditional and public charter school receives an overall accountability score in compliance with national Title I requirements. DC has one of the most equitable school accountability models in the country with more than half the score reflecting performance of students in priority groups such as economically disadvantaged, students with disabilities, and English learners. This dashboard makes these scores accessible to the public.

This dashboard contains every metric that OSSE reports on the DC school report card by student group and grade band, including those that count towards the calculation of the overall accountability score and others that are display only. Examples include math and reading growth, science achievement, graduation rates, chronic absenteeism, and teacher retention.

This dashboard tracks major PK-12 education metrics and their change since 2019 like enrollment, achievement, growth, graduation rates, chronic absenteeism, teacher retention, and per pupil spending adjusted for inflation. Explore the latest DC schools’ data to better understand what supports students need to thrive in the coming years.

In 2024, DC administered the CAPE assessments in math and reading to students in grades 3-10. The CAPE replaces PARCC, keeping the same format and rigorous cut score to maintain a high standard for proficiency. This dashboard makes school performance data interactive with a default view of how students from economically disadvantaged families are performing.
