Data Analyst


Position Overview


The data analyst is a new position and will play an essential role in our organizational growth, moving us closer to our goal of ensuring all schools in the District of Columbia utilize the right information to drive decisions that move the needle forward for all students. The analyst will develop data dashboards, build data warehouses, and analyze data to help school leaders identify their strengths and areas of improvement. The work of creating metrics and data review processes will guide both leaders and teachers as they help individual students develop personalized learning plans. The analyst will report to Kenli Okada, a partner at EmpowerK12, who leads our work on alternative approaches to school performance measurement.


Responsibilities

  • Anything it takes to serve our partners’ needs
  • Develop data dashboards using Power BI and Qlik Sense that highlight actionable insights for school leaders and that support data-driven continuous improvement cycles
  • Lead in-depth analysis projects using statistical software (e.g. R, SPSS, SAS) to bring powerful, sophisticated analytical techniques to bear on DC’s toughest educational challenges
  • Build data warehouses that efficiently pull, transform, and prepare data from multiple sources for use in developing innovative metrics and interactive dashboards
  • Create systems to improve the efficiency of our dashboarding, data warehousing, and analysis work so we can put more of our resources into directly serving partners
